KOCHI: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Nasir Maudany has said that an anti-imperialism coalition will be formed by bringing together individuals and organisations that oppose the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal. At a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Maudany, however, said that this was not a political coalition mooted for the Lok Sabha elections. “This is meant as a platform for anti-imperialistic forces, especially those against the nuclear deal,” he said. Mr. Maudany said that the PDP would hold an anti-nuclear-deal rally and meeting at Muthalakkulam Maidan in Kozhikode on August 15, followed by a meeting at Ponnani on August 19. Besides, a door-to-door campaign against the deal would be held in all 140 Assembly constituencies from November 1 to December 6. He said a majority of the party activists who attended the study camp held at Malappuram recently were for the PDP contesting from Ponnani in the Lok Sabha elections. “The party leadership would take a decision taking into account the sentiments of workers.”
