BANGALORE: Following a direction from Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) on Saturday transferred Executive Engineer V. Venkatashiva Reddy against whom the Lokayukta has filed a case of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Mr. Reddy — suspended after the Lokayukta police raided his premises on December 19, 2007 and detected assets worth Rs. 4 crore allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income — had been reinstated on August 7, 2008 in the same post (Operation & Maintenance, South Division, Bangalore) he held earlier. Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde had taken exception to the engineer being back in the same post as it was against norms and gave scope for destruction of vital evidence. On Saturday, Bescom transferred Mr. Reddy. Bescom Managing Director Tushar Girinath told The Hindu that Mr. Reddy had been transferred from South Division to the Bescom corporate office.
