Two women commit suicide in separate incidents

BANGALORE: A 24-year-old woman committed suicide after an alleged argument with her husband over consumption of alcohol.

According to Ashok Nagar police, Salma Begum and her husband were returning on a motorcycle to their house in Neelasandra on Thursday. The police imposed a fine on Salma’s husband for allegedly consuming alcohol. They returned home and argued over Salma’s husband consuming alcohol. Late in the night she was found hanging from the ceiling.

Another 24-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself to death in her house in Rajagopalnagar police station limits on Thursday.

The police said Kamala was allegedly been harassed by her husband Purushottam, who works as a welder. She was married to Purushottam six years ago.

The Rajagopalnagar police have arrested Purushottam.

Theft

Three men waylaid K. Vijayakumar on Cubbon Road and made away with a gold chain worth Rs. 45,000 on Thursday. The incident occurred when Vijayakumar was returning home in his car. The Commercial Street police have registered a case.

Arrested

The Ramanagaram police have arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of 35-year-old social activist A.T. Babu near Mayaganahalli in the last week of July.

The police gave the names of the accused as Lakshmanagowda of Kamakshipalya, Byra of Dasarahalli, Kumar of Dobbespet and Manja of Turvekere. The four were arrested in Kanigarabeedi near Thalghatpura. Earlier, the police had arrested two persons. A gang hacked A.T. Babu while he was in a car along with two other volunteers.
