KOCHI: Self-financing Engineering College Managements Association has accused the Office of the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations of delaying the admission process in private engineering colleges. President of the association G.P.C. Nayar said here on Saturday that the Commissioner of Entrance Examination was also trying to tarnish the image of the government by not speeding up the admission of students. Mr. Nayar said that the Education Minister had agreed to admit the students (who have secured admission in the government seats in self-financing engineering colleges) before August 18. But the students were yet to get an instruction from the Office of the Entrance Commissioner allowing them to join various self-financing colleges, he said. Mr. Nayar said that classes in self-financing engineering colleges would begin on August 18. He said that any delay in the admission will affect the course schedule. The actual semester duration would get reduced following the delay, he said. The association representatives alleged that students would be forced to migrate to engineering colleges in other States following the inordinate delay in completion of admission process here. The government should take immediate steps to complete the allotment process at the earliest, they said.
