BANGALORE: The State government has requested the Ministry of Human Resource Development to grant two Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) to Karnataka. Minister for Higher Education Arvind Limbavali told presspersons that he had met the Union Minister for Human Resource Development and presented the case of Karnataka as a location for the prestigious IIITs. He said State had producedseveral top IT industries. Mr. Limbavali said the State was a frontrunner for being provided an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The Government is keen on having the IIITs on Public Private Partnership (PPP) . Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has already written to the Centre on setting up one IIT in the State. Mr. Limbavali said Bangalore University would be split into five.
