Puducherry: The Kerala Samajam in Puducherry has urged the government to declare the day of Onam festival every year as a public holiday for all four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam of the Union Territory. President of the Samajam George Kutty Abraham told reporters here on Friday that the day was now a holiday in Mahe only. Restricted holidaysThe other three regions had the holiday under the list of ‘restricted holidays` for government staff. The Samajam wanted the government to declare a public holiday for Onam every year starting from this year for all the four regions. – PTI
