Cash-for-votes: panel gets time till August 29
Neena Vyas
NEW DELHI: The Kishore Chandra Deo parliamentary committee, set up by the Speaker to establish the facts of the cash-for-votes case, has been given an extension till August 29. On Saturday, a committee member told The Hindu that a team of CNN-IBN, which took video footage of the sting operation, would appear before the panel on Monday.
“The next to be called would be Samajwadi Party MP Rewati Raman Singh; then the man who allegedly delivered the cash, Sanjeev Saxena. After that, the committee would call Sudheendra Kulkarni, political aide of Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani, who was present at the residence of BJP MP Ashok Argal when the cash was delivered, to give his statement to the committee.”
Sources said all materials, including the “tape” publicised by Bharatiya Janshakti Party leader Uma Bharti, and another presented before journalists by UPA leaders Lalu Prasad, Ram Vilas Paswan, Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh were forwarded by the Speaker to Mr. Deo.
