CBI inquiry recommended into fake notes
Special Correspondent
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government is understood to have recommended a CBI inquiry into the Domariaganj fake currency racket.
Though no official confirmation was available, sources said on Saturday that the proposal had been sent to the Centre late on Friday night.
The case had been transferred to the Special Investigation Team of the Uttar Pradesh Police by the Mayawati government on Thursday and the SIT had started investigation on Friday.
With the counting of currency notes still on at the Domaraiganj branch of the SBI in Siddharthnagar district, fake currency with a face value of Rs.1.42 crore has been detected so far in the bank’s currency chest by joint teams of the RBI and the SBI.
