Raj Thackeray sets August 28 deadline for nameplates
MUMBAI: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray on Saturday asked shopowners to put up nameplates in Marathi by August 28.
“By August you have to decide which would be a cheaper option, having Marathi nameplates or having your shop,” he warned at a function organised here by MNS members to donate eyes.
“My deadline was set to expire on August 14 but as the Municipal Commissioner has given an August 28 deadline, we will treat this as the ultimatum for putting up Marathi nameplates.”
The MNS chief last month appealed to Marathi officials to stop abetting ‘outsiders’ by issuing bogus domicile certificates and driving licences, saying these acts rendered the State bankrupt and led to a spurt in crime. — PTI
