Five records take a tumble

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu athletes were on a record breaking streak at the 20th South Zone junior athletic championship at the Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.

The host boys and girls accounted for all the five records that fell on the second day.

The results: Boys: U-20: 10,000m walk: 1. Vijaya Bahadur (AP) 51:10.4s, 2. V. Rajini (TN), 3. K.P. Irfan (Ker). Pole vault: 1. S. Elango (TN) 4.00m, 2. Antony Jose (Ker). 110m hurdles: 1. P.C. Akhil (Ker) 14.8s, 2. E. Gopi (AP), 3. C.H. Eswara Reddy (AP). Shot put: 1. M. Ganesh Babu (AP) 15.51m, 2. K. Gowtham (TN), 3. P. Ramadass (TN). Javelin: 1. H. Michael Justin (TN) 56.35m, 2. B.H.
