Film screened to help the underprivileged

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: To raise funds for its visually-impaired and underprivileged students, the Old Students’ Association of Delhi University’s Hindu College organised a special screening of the new Bollywood movie “Singh is Kinng” at Delite theatre here over the weekend.

The special screening of the film starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif coincided with the Old Students Association’s golden jubilee celebrations.

Speaking about the event, Old Students Association president Lalit Bhasin said: “Hindu College has always stood for the highest standards of education, development and values. As alumni, it is our responsibility to contribute to the advancement of the college. The screening of the film has been organised to raise funds for the underprivileged students and for renovating the auditorium to make it a state-of-the-art fully air-conditioned auditorium. It will help us raise funds for meritorious students who need support.”

Actively looking for opportunities to enhance facilities at this institution, the Association intends to establish a computer Braille library in the college and to upgrade the college auditorium to “world-class” standards.

The Association was formed in the early years of the last century. Over the years, it has conducted many activities for the benefit of the college under the leadership of Lalit Bhasin. In recent years, following the centenary of Hindu College, the Association has made vigorous efforts to raise funds for the institution. It has also organised Distinguished Alumni Awards and Annual OSA Meets to this end.
