Facelift for Veli youth hostel

Thiruvananthapuram: The government is drawing up a project to give a facelift to the youth hostel at Veli here and equip it with modern facilities. Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs M.Vijayakumar said here on Saturday that the project would include the construction of a building of international standards.

He said care would be taken to ensure that the construction did not disturb the environmental equilibrium of the region.

He made the announcement after visiting the hostel and its environs.

Mr.Vijayakumar also said moves were on to integrate the functioning of the youth hostels in Kochi and Kozhikode. Vice-chairman of the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board Sreeramakrishnan, member Sasankan, film director Shaji N.Karun, Principal of the Government Fine Arts College Ajayakumar and architect T.M. Cyriac accompanied the Minister on his visit.
