KOCHI: The ever-busy St. Teresa’s College campus in the city became the venue for a get-together with a unique social cause on Saturday. Around 2,000 men, women and children – most of whom had been diagnosed as HIV positive, converged here for their third get-together titled Snehasangamam 2008. Contrary to popular belief, most of them were cheerful and carried a look of hope on their face. Inaugurating the event, PWD Minister Mons Joseph lauded the role played by Council of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Kerala (CPK+) and the agencies supporting the initiative in organising the event. District Medical Officer K.T. Remani said more blood testing centres are coming up in the district, so that people can submit their blood samples for testing. The vicar of the Immanuel CSI Church, Broadway, T.I. James, who was among the organisers of the event, attributed the good turnout at the function to the love and fellowship among the people. CPK+ began as a grouping of seven people in 1997 and now has over 3,000 members. For details, call 0484-4025398. The e-mail is cpkplus@gmail.com.
