VISAKHAPATNAM: A pleasure trip ended in a disaster for a group of students from Hyderabad. The drowning of their friend at Ramakrishna Beach will, perhaps, continue to haunt them for the rest of their lives. According to Three Town CI Ranga Raju, a group of MCA students from JBIT, Hyderabad, came on a pleasure trip to the city on Friday. They went to play at the RK Beach on Saturday afternoon. One of the group members K. Rama Seshu, 23, was bathing when he was hit by a strong wave and dragged into the water. He was caught on a huge rock and reportedly died of suffocation. His friends succeeded in tracing him and tried to save him but their efforts proved futile. The friends were seen wailing inconsolably as their pal breathed his last, right in front of their eyes. Fatal lureIn their fascination for the sea and the waves many forget the lurking danger and ignore warning boards that have been put up on the beach. Rama Seshu’s friends couldn’t believe that their friend was dead. They desperately moved his head, shook his hands and tried to revive his breathing. They cried “Ram, please wake up…” Their cries moved bystanders to tears but by then it was already late. Someone phoned EMRI 108 but he was taken in an autorickshaw to the nearby A.N. Beach Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. His friends telephoned Rama Seshu’s father but didn’t know what to tell him. They finally managed to tell him that his son met with an accident and was serious.
