Over Rs. 2 lakh missing from motorcycle
Special Correspondent
TAMBARAM: A sum of Rs. 2.4 lakh cash was stolen from the box of a motorcycle that was parked outside a shopping complex on Pammal Main Road in Pallavaram on Saturday.
D. Thangapandian of Perungalathur had parked his vehicle outside the complex around 2.50 p.m.
When he returned 10 minutes later, he noticed the box broken open and the cash stolen.
He rushed to Pallavaram police station and lodged a complaint.
After preliminary investigations, the police said the victim had left Perambur around noon but reached Pallavaram only after nearly three hours.
The cash was placed below the raincoat and other stuff inside the box.
Not completely damaged
The police said the box was not completely damaged. It would have been difficult for the culprits to squeeze their hand through a narrow space between the box and its lid.
