THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sports Minister M. Vijayakumar is unlikely to attend the Olympics. The Minister’s office told The Hindu here on Saturday that the ‘no-objection’ given by the Centre for the Minister’s visit to Beijing was an insult to him. The Centre had given only conditional clearance to the Minister. The Centre had said that Mr. Vijayakumar should not reach Beijing before August 10. He would be received only on arrival at the Beijing airport and all arrangements including travel, transportation and accommodation of the Minister should be made by the State government itself. Denying permission to a Minister who had diplomatic visa was unprecedented, the office sources said.
