Flood water being drained out in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Irrigation Minister Ajay Singh Yadav said on Saturday that draining operations had been launched in the flood-affected villages of Bhiwani, Rohtak and Jhajjar districts and 385 pumps of different capacities had been deployed to drain out accumulated rain water.
Pumps installed
The Minister stated that due to heavy rain during the past three four days water had entered some villages of Bhiwani, Rohtak and Jhajjar districts. The officers of the State Irrigation Department have been instructed to install de-watering pumps at all possible locations to drain out water from the flood-affected villages.
Mr. Yadav disclosed that about three dozen villages and 12,000 acres of land were affected in Bhiwani district, 20 villages and 8,000 acres of land in Rohtak district, and 30 villages and 20,000 acres of land in Jhajjar district. Some of the prominent flood-affected villages are Tigrana, Bapoda, Mudhal, Talu, Jui, Kalinga, Kharag, Charkhi, Chang, Malkos, Baland, Buhu, Akberpur, Kabulpur, Ismaila, Dighal, Dhandlan, Seria and Ghauchi.
Canals repaired
Rajpura Minor, Gujrani Minor, Dang Minor and New Mundhal Minor in Bhiwani district which were all breached have now been repaired, he added. The supply in the canal system in the flood-affected areas had been closed to ease the flood situation.
