Shocking: Friends try in vain to save the youth who drowned in the Bay of Bengal in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. —

VISAKHAPATNAM: A pleasure trip ended in disaster for a group of students from Hyderabad. The drowning of their friend at the Ramakrishna Beach will, perhaps, continue to haunt them for the rest of their lives.

According to Three Town CI Ranga Raju, a group of MCA students from JBIT, Hyderabad, came on a pleasure trip to the city on Friday. They went to play at the RK Beach on Saturday afternoon. One of the group members K. Rama Seshu, 23, was bathing when he was hit by a strong wave and dragged into the water.

He reportedly died of suffocation. His friends succeeded in tracing him, but their efforts to save him proved futile. Rama Seshu’s friends were seen wailing inconsolably.
