CPI (M) opposes move on colleges
CHENNAI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Saturday appealed to the government to change its decision to convert some of the aided colleges into deemed universities.
N.Varadharajan, party’s State secretary, in a statement said if aided colleges were accorded the status of deemed universities, the government would not be able to interfere in admissions and collection of fees.
Hence the party was opposed to the government’s idea of according deemed university status to a couple of aided college, he added in the release. — Special Correspondent
