Plea to upgrade Ranee’s Government Hospital
Staff Reporter
PUDUKOTTAI: The Pudukottai District Consumers’ Association has urged the State government to upgrade the Ranee’s Government Hospital, established during the erstwhile Samasthanam period, into an independent and speciality centre for women and child care institute.
A resolution adopted at the Association’s meeting held here recently said that the hospital has been catering to the health care needs of women and children for the past several decades, but its administration has been under the jurisdiction of the Government Headquarters Hospital.
Supply of drugs and other infrastructure facilities for the Ranee’s Government Hospital were being routed through the District Headquarters hospital.
Independent administration, on the lines of the one in Egmore, would facilitate proper health care delivery for the pregnant women and children, the resolution said.
Another resolution urged the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to strengthen the technical capacity of all telephone exchanges for installing the broadband connectivity.
The district president of the Association, M. Srikumar presided over the meeting.
The general secretary S. Dhanavelu and the Treasurer K. Vezhavendan were among those who spoke.
