Green move: A sapling being planted at KHMHS, Valakolam, in Malappuram district. Students of Kunhahamed Haji Memorial High School (KHMHS) in Valakolam in Malappuram district launched a campaign, ‘My Campus, Green Campus,’ under the auspices of its English Literary Club recently. The campaign was part of the afforestation programmes promoted by the State government among schoolchildren. P. Vikraman, circle inspector of Tirurangadi, inaugurated the programme. He advised the students to plant more trees and make the surroundings greener. P. Abdul Razak, headmaster of the school, presided. Sajith K. Menon, staff secretary, and M.P. Devassia of the English department also spoke. Nagasaki DayA.M.M High School, Pulikkal, observed ‘Nagasaki Day’ by building ‘Peace Wall 2008’ involving 2,500 students.
