Floods in the Kagina river cut off inter-State traffic

FLASH FLOODS: Gulbarga-Ripponpalli inter-State highway after floods in the Kagina river cut off vehicular traffc between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh

GULBARGA: Flash floods in the Kagina river cut off the vehicular traffic between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh on Gulbarga-Ripponpalli inter-State highway for more than seven hours after the flood water submerged a bridge near Malkhed in Sedam taluk of Gulbarga district.

According to the reports received here on Sunday, the floods had also submerged another bridge at Dandoti cutting off movement of vehicles between Gulbarga and Chitapur taluk, and traffic had not resumed on this route till late in the evening. However, the flood waters started receding after 2 p.m., and the traffic resumed. The flood water had also entered agricultural fields on banks of the river in Sedam and Chitapur taluks.
