PANAJI: Normal life in different parts of Goa was disrupted on Sunday with many parts of the State getting affected by rising water-levels following incessant rain for the last over 48 hours. Minister for Health Vishwajit Rane, who visited flood-affected areas of Bicholim, Sanquelim and Kerim in north Goa , said that people had been evacuated in several places. He described the flood situation as “grim” but “under control”. Mr. Rane said that the Government was constantly monitoring the water-level in Anjuna dam in north Goa. Water was released from the reservoir on Sunday on account of threats to villages in the vicinity of the dam owing to rising water-level. Sources in south Goa Magistrate’s office said that despite efforts on “war footing” to clear the road at Anmod Ghat on the National Highway No. 4A , regular traffic could only resume in the next two days. Traffic on the route got disrupted following a landslip on Saturday.
