Fire-fighting operation: Fire personnel trying to douse the fire which broke out at the Reserve Bank of India in New Delhi on Sunday. NEW DELHI: A minor fire broke out at the Reserve Bank of India building on Parliament Street on Sunday. No one was injured. The fire broke out around 6 p.m. in a UPS room on the first floor of the bank. Nine fire-tenders took over an hour to douse the flames. The fire was apparently caused due to a short circuit in the batteries kept inside the room. “Some ceiling work was being done on the ground floor of the building when smoke filled the corridor. Sensing danger, we all rushed out of the building. A call was than made to the Fire Department,” said Ram Singh, who was inside the building when the fire broke out. In another incident, minor fire broke out in the basement of the Hayatt Regency at R.K. Puram here in the early hours of Sunday. Four fire tenders took over an hour to put out the blaze. No one was injured.
