Vacant seats in Govt. ITIs being filled

Salem: Vacant seats in stenography and computer operator & programming assistant courses are being filled at the Government Industrial Training Institute. Admissions will be made on first-come-first-serve basis. A sum of Rs. 150 will be given as assistance to students belonging to scheduled castes, Rs. 175 for the scheduled tribes, and Rs. 50 for the backward classes and most backward classes.

Students should bring in their educational certificates and community certificate during the admission. The last date for the admission is August 31

Adi Dravidar hostels

Admissions to hostels run for Adi Dravidar and tribal students in the district for year 2008-09 will be held at respective Special Tahsildar (Adi Dravidar welfare) offices on August 14, 16, 18 and 19.

44 hostels are being run for adi dravidar and tribal students in the district.

Science test

Sona College of Technology will conduct a state level Science Brilliance Test on August 16.

Over 1,500 higher secondary students from 150 schools in the State are expected to take the test, which is organised to encourage students to take more interest in science and technology. Rs. 10,000 will be given as first prize. Merit shield and participation certificate will be distributed.

No registration fee will be collected. More information can be obtained from the college.
