SHIMLA: Blade manufacturing company Super Max India has accused the administration and the Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh of playing with the livelihood of more than 5000 workers at their factory in Shoghi near here. General Manager of the company Subhash Chaudhuri, in a statement here on Sunday, said BMS activists were terrorising the workers and damaging the machinery and equipments. Their activities were supported by the administration, hence bringing down the morale of the workers, he said. The Super Max management has requested the State government to provide an anchor and help in restoring and protecting the interests of the stakeholders. It should provide a firm and purposeful sense of direction, so that it facilitates the process of re-commencing the operations of the factory, said the company spokesperson. Local residents and BMS activists had forced the closure of the Super Max unit here after a worker-management spat last month, which had resulted in a violent clash. They demanded compensation for the worker who had died in the firing. The mob had tried to blow up the factory, alleged the management. Cases were registered against the management and owners of the company. The CITU and other workers’ unions were for settlement and restoration of work in the factory. The labour laws should be implemented, tripartite talks be initiated and the State government should immediately intervene, they said.
