Mandal-level teams to monitor flood situation, says Collector

Kakinada: Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi has constituted division and mandal level teams comprising officials of Agriculture, Irrigation, Medical and Health, Panchayat Raj and Revenue Departments to monitor the flood situation and prepare for any emergency in the days ahead due to the prospect of a fresh spell of rains.

He issued orders warning the fishermen not to venture into the sea which has been rough because of the low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.

In a press release, the Collector stated that paddy nurseries in about 25,000 hectares were inundated by the flood waters and the total loss was being estimated.

The number of houses fully and partially damaged reached 150. Compensation would be paid to as per norms. Relief and rescue measures were expedited and steps taken to face more rains.

The district received total rainfall of 308.98 cm and average of 51.5.

The highest rainfall of 12.4 cm was recorded in P.Gannavaram mandal and lowest 1.5 cm in U.Kotthapalli. Other mandals which received heavy rain (in cm) are: Amalapuram (11.04), Ambajipeta (10.5), Allavaram (10.4), Mandapeta (9.8), Sakhinetipalli (9.5), Atreyapuram (8.5), Kothapeta (8.4), Razole (8.1), Mamidikuduru (8.08), Alamuru (7.7), Korukonda (7.2), Devipatnam (6.9), Maredumilli (6.9), Pamarru (6.2), Ramachandrapuram (6), Mummidivaram (5.3), Ainavilli (5.7), Rajanagaram (5.7) and Samalkot (5.1).
