Rajahmundry: Even as flood level is receding in Godavari river many villages in the districts are under the sheet of waters on the fifth consecutive day. Joint Director of Agriculture T. Nandaiah declared that the paddy had affected in thousand hectarers in East Godavari. Transportation has been cut off to the flood affected villages and the public are using boats arranged by the officials to move to safer places. Colleges and schools declared holidays due to floods in Devipatnam, Polavaram, Inavilli, I Polavaram and other mandals. In Yanam town, about 80 families residing in Rajiv Nagar, GMC Balayogi Colony and France Tippa, located near ferry road were staying on the ring bund for the last two days as flood water marooned the colonies. Many huts were damaged due to floods in the town and the villagers are panic over the possibility of flood water increasing again with the incessant rains occurring since last night. Pondicherry Tourism Minister Malladi Krishna Rao, along with regional administrator Y.L.N. Reddy and municipal chairman G. Chander Rao visited the flood affected areas in the town today. In Konaseema area, many villages in P Gannavaram, Malkipuram, I Polavaram and other mandals are in inundation and the flood water was stagnated in crops.
