The train No.8303/8304 Sambalpur-Puri Express may kindly be extended up to Berhampur without changing the timings. The train, if extended up to Berhampur, will get more revenue besides satisfying the public. Hardly a few passengers are daily travelling from Sambalpur to Puri which can be conveniently covered up by other trains from Khurda Road. Moreover daily a good number of passengers are travelling from Berhampur to Sambalpur who depend upon private busses paying a huge amount particularly during evening times due to non-availability of a direct train between Berhampur and Sambalpur. Since this is an external arrangement of the ECoR authorities, there is no necessity to refer the matter to Parliament. Earlier, such minute extensions like extension of Bhubaneswar-Jaipur express was extended to Puri without referring the matter to Parliament. Ratnakar Palo Berhampur Kashmir rowPeople’s protest against cancellation of land rights of Amarnath Shrine Board is gaining momentum. I don’t know whether land of Kashmir can be sold to rest of the Indians. If it is allowed, the shrine board should purchase the land. What is wrong in it? Mufti Mohmmed Sayed, who is the first beneficiary of India’s weak policy against terrorism, is now playing into hands of militants. His party has done irreparable damage to India’s sovereignty. Abdulla-led national conference too is trying to take advantage of the muddled water. Jammu had never raised strong voice despite its peace-loving people were made target of bullets. But the situation is quite different than yesteryears. People of Jammu had come out of their shell and are ready to fight any injustice meted out to them. If land cannot be transferred to a religious institution, then the land possessed by Waqf boards should be taken back. Rama Behera Bhubaneswar Be proactiveTaslima Nasrin is again in news and the double standards of the so-called secular parties has come to the fore again. The prominent party that always stays ahead of the league is CPI (M). Never ever Ms. Nasrin had given inflammatory speech against any community. She is controversial because of her some bold stance on some mediaeval practices which is still in existence. But these parties bowed before some voices of ‘fundamentalists’. But for these parties who are asking the head of Bangladeshi writers are not fundamentalists. If some other political parities or social organisations speak about a particular religion and protection of rights, they become fundamentalists for these parties. These parties believe that by staying ‘secular’ they could prevent flinging of terrorism from certain quarters. To ward off terrorism, one should be proactive. Developmental activities are only remedies. Mohan Swain Bhubaneswar
