Tree plantation drive
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Division of Northern Railway launched “Van Mahotsav 2008” drive here this past week. As part of the drive, railway officials and staff visited various colonies and created awareness for participation in tree plantation for creating a healthy environment.
Over 16,000 saplings were planted during the drive that covered over 70 locations including residential areas, parks, staff quarters, railway stations, stretches between the stations, workshops and sheds.
Indian Railway Board Chairman K.C Jena, Divisional Railway Manager Delhi Rakesh Saxena and other Northern Railway officials were among those who planted saplings.
