Displaying skills: Children participate in the Great Indian Heritage festival organised by ISKCON in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Thiruvananthapuram: More than 3,000 children from 75 schools participated in Great Indian Heritage 2008, the latest edition of the annual children’s festival organised by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), which began here on Sunday at the Rengavilasam Art Gallery hall, near Transport Bhavan, in the Fort area. The children participated in the painting, drawing and heritage contests and a quiz. There were separate competitions for different age groups. The themes and topics were related to the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Bhagavatham. The overall best student will receive a free trip to the ISKCON world headquarters in Kolkata. The second and third prize winners will receive cash awards of Rs. 2,500 and Rs. 1,000, respectively. The prizes will be given away on August 24 at a function at the Kanakakunnu Palace in connection with Gokulashtami.
