Sorry state of affairs

Many employees and workers whose places of work are located in the industrial hub of Autonagar, could not go to their offices on Saturday, thanks to the downpour that made it impossible for them to navigate their way through the bouncy roads full of potholes and gaping trenches. Members of the Industrial Area Local Authority (IALA) who, at regular intervals, come up with official figures on how much is being spent on the development of the area, own an explanation on this count. Synonym for bad roads, the Autonagar area is much-dreaded place for motorists. During rains, the situation worsens with the potholes further widening into deep troughs, making a ride on these stretches a nightmare.

The IALA members may go a little ahead of the first petrol bunk on the 100-ft road to get a first hand account of the sorry state of affairs.

Budget films

Some of the small-budget movies which are off the usual track conveying a profound meaning sink without making any noise due to lack of proper post-production planning. People involved in such projects must chalk out proper action plan to ensure that the film reaches the section eager to relish such experience. This is quite contrary to the big-budget films that hog the limelight even before the project actually comes into existence.

Those making small budget films must study the distribution pattern and adopt realistic mode to take their project to the right kind of audience.

In the bargain, people interested in viewing some really good stuff are deprived of the same.

Harmful trend

Driven by sheer greed for money and TRP ratings, some private Telugu channels are airing programmes bereft of ethics and principles.

Intrusion into private lives of individuals, sensationalisation of tragedies such as murders or suicides and endless telecast of gory visuals go unchecked.

Suicides are glorified while love affairs are projected in such a bad light that it adversely affects their families.

If a love affair is found to be behind a murder or a suicide, the day is made for these channels, which tirelessly air the sordid story behind the scene, sending a wrong message to the society as a whole.

It is time the authorities concerned took a serious note of this harmful trend and did the needful to reign in the channels.

Check wastage of public money

Instead of constantly complaining of an over-strained State exchequer, the Government must adopt some really tough austerity measures to cut wastage of public resources and money.

The first step in this direction could be taken by drastically slashing down the number of vehicles in the official convoy of the Chief Minister during the latter’s visit to any district.

Besides causing a huge cost burden, these convoys also lead to traffic chaos at times.

The Chief Minister must take this into consideration and set an example before the people by cutting down on his own expenditure first.
