YSR asks officials to be alert
Special Correspondent
Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy
HDYERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked Chief Secretary P. Ramakanth Reddy and the top brass of the administration to “be on toes” for the next 24 hours for restoring normalcy in the 10 flood-hit districts and rehabilitating the affected families.
He condoled the death of over 60 persons in the floods and expressed sympathies to the members of the bereaved families.
Speaking to reporters after reviewing the flood situation at the Secretariat on Sunday along with the Ministers and senior officials, Dr. Reddy directed the health officials to activate the 221 medical teams formed already with doctors and para-medical staff so that they take steps to prevent the outbreak of diseases apart from treating the sick. Details furnished by officials during the review indicated that the floods damaged roads for a stretch of 698 km, while 247 out of 811 irrigation tanks had breached.
