Mayawati making claim to gain sympathy: Digvijay “She is facing threat from her own men” LUCKNOW: Coming down heavily on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, the Congress on Sunday said it will demand the Union Home Ministry to probe into her allegation that there was a threat to her life. “She (Mayawati) should tell from whom she is fearing and who is conspiring to kill her. I think she has threat from her own men and not from any outsider. I will request the Union Home Minister to probe her allegations”, senior Congress leader and U.P. in-charge Digvijay Singh said while addressing a two-day State party meet here. Alleging that the Chief Minister was repeatedly making the claim to gain the sympathy of people, Mr. Singh said Ms. Mayawati should stop making such apprehensions as she is already under the security cover of NSG commandos. He said said Ms Mayawati has no time for the common man’s problem as she was busy in grabbing land of the poor for her personal use. “In Badalpur, Mayawati’s palace under construction has an arrangement of helipad on its roof. And all this is being done by grabbing land of the poor”, Mr. Singh alleged. Stating that the State government has “institutionalised” corruption and Congressmen should start “halla bol” campaign against it, he said on every occasion be it Mayawati’s birthday or rally officers take bribes in the name of giving “chanda” (donation) to the BSP. Claiming that prices in U.P. were rising not due to inflation, Mr. Singh said it was only due to “promotion of hoarders” by the state government that prices had seen upward trend. Mr. Singh urged the partymen to gather information about “misdeeds” of the BSP workers and officers close to the party so that they can be exposed. He claimed that it was the Congress which started talking about Dalit rights and made the provisions in this regard. He also alleged that the Mayawati government was misusing the central funds and added that the Centre gave Rs 35 thousand crores annually to the state which should be properly utilised.- PTI
