Yet another feather in her cap
S. Vijay Kumar
M. Lavinashree
CHENNAI: When she was aged three, M. Lavinashree of Madurai made news, entering the Limca Book of World Records for memorising and reciting all 1,330 couplets in the Tirukkural.
At the tender age of 8, she has many achievements to her credit. She is now said to have become the world’s youngest Microsoft professional. Lavinashree appeared for the ‘Installing, Configuring and Administering Microsoft Windows’ examination on July 26 and scored 842 out of 1,000 marks.
“It was her initiative to learn computers and clear the Microsoft exam. My daughter has photographic memory,” says K. Muniasamy.
After school, Lavinashree is working for the next step -- she hopes to clear the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Certificate course soon. “I want to become a scientist…like A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. It was he who triggered the urge in me to achieve more,” she says. The Ministry of Women and Child Development conferred National Award for Exceptional Achievement-2006 on the girl for her feat of memorising the Tirukkural. Commendation letters also came from Dr. Kalam and former Prime Minister, A.B. Vajpayee.
