This Day That Age
Measures taken by the Government of India to enable exporters to step up exports, fulfil their orders in time and at competitive prices were enumerated in an official Press release in New Delhi on August 10. Among these are relief in duties, supply of raw materials required for goods meant for export, transport and shipping facilities, settlement of commercial disputes, securing of foreign exchange for business tours abroad and on-the-spot assistance at major ports. A rebate of import and excise duties on raw materials used in export articles is allowed on about 75 commodities. The procedures have also been simplified reducing to the minimum the time lag between shipment and the payment of rebate dues.
