Fishing vessel crew rescued
CHENNAI: In a search and rescue operation conducted in the Bay of Bengal by the Indian Coast Guard on Sunday, 17 crew members of a Fisheries Department fishing vessel MV Skipper III were safely brought to Vishakhapatnam.
According to a press release here, the MV Skipper III had sailed on Friday from Vishakhapatnam for Cochin and its engine had a problem enroute.
The vessel became non-operational approximately 85 nautical miles South East of Vishakhapatnam.
Following the receipt of a distress message by Maritime Rescue Coordinating Centre at Chennai, the Coast Guard ship ICGS Varad sailed on Saturday and located the ship on Sunday.
