Consultant selected for building houses for tsunami victims

PUDUCHERRY: The Project Implementation Agency (PIA), floated by the government to construct houses for the tsunami victims, has selected Mahindra Consulting Engineers Limited as the management consultant for building houses for fishermen in Kalapet.

A release issued by Project Director of PIA G. Ragesh Chandra said the tender had been finalised and work order would be issued very shortly. Each house would have a plinth area of 35 square feet with a hall, bed room, kitchen and separate lavatories, the release said.

Provisions have been made for construction of parks, shopping complex and community halls where the houses are constructed, the release said.
