Nod for high-level bridges

AMARAVATHI: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has sanctioned six high-level bridges on drains and rivulets on Guntur-Amaravathi and Amaravathi-Mangalagiri roads at a cost of Rs.12 crore to avoid incidents like the one at Maddur drain near Narakullapadu on Sunday killing 13 persons. During a 40-minute visit to Government Hospital here on Monday afternoon to console the kin of those dead in the incident, he expressed deep concern over such unfortunate incident taking place and announced sanction of three high-level bridges on Guntur - Amaravathi road at Lam, Endrai, Narakullapadu and one at Peda Maddur on Amaravathi - Mangalagiri Road, one each at Medikonduru and Tadikonda causeways. Condoling the family members and kin of the deceased, he talked to the survivors at Amaravathi hospital and tried to know how the incident took place.
