Sabarimala temple to open on August 16

Thiruvananthapuram: The Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala will open for poojas in the Malayalam month of Chingam at 5.30 p.m. on August 16.
In addition to the usual poojas such as Ganapati homam, usha pooja, utcha pooja and athazha pooja, special poojas such as padi pooja and udayasthamana pooja and ‘neyyabhishekam’ will be performed on all days from August 17 to 21.
The lunar eclipse from 1.07 a.m. to 4.37 a.m. on August 17 will not affect the opening of the shrine as it is done only at 5 a.m.
After the monthly poojas, the temple will close at 10 p.m. on August 21.
