Ganesh, Mahesh bag titles

KOCHI: S. Ganesh of Nava Nirman Public School (Vazhakkala) and M. Mahesh of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir (Elamakkara) won the under-15 and under-12 titles in the Talco Trophy chess tournament for beginners at the Kadavanthra YMCA.

Nava Nirman won the best school award.

Final placings: Boys: Under-15: 1. S. Ganesh (Nava Nirman, 7), 2. R. Vyshakh (BVM, Eroor, 6.5), 3. Purvi Thankaraj (Gregorian, 6.5). Under-12: 1. M. Mahesh (BVM, Elamakkara, 7.5 pts), 2. Adarsh B. Puthumana (Nava Nirman, 7), 3. Teni Baby (Matha Nagar, 6.5). Under-10: 1. Athul Vinayak (Gregorian, 5), 2. Anu Madhav (Nava Nirman, 4.5). Under-8: 1. Bjorn Tito (Nava Nirman, 5), 2. S. Jaison (Christu Jayanthi PS, 5).

Girls: 1. Rellin George (St Teresa’s, Ekm, 5), 2. Neetha Mathew (Matha Nagar, 4), 3. A.G. Malavika (Gregorian, 3.5).

Best school: Nava Nirman PS (56.5 pts).
