MADURAI: The district secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Kanyakumari has filed a writ petition before the Madras High Court Bench here to permit his party to stage a demonstration demanding the dismissal of N. Suresh Rajan, Minister for Tourism and Registration. The police had registered a case against the Minister under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and other provisions of the Indian Penal Code on July 28. He was accused of abusing and intimidating a Special Deputy Tahsildar in Nagercoil during a Government function on April 18. “Rejection baseless”The petitioner, K.T. Patchiammal, said that the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nagercoil sub-division, had declined permission to stage the demonstration citing law and order problems and shortage of police force. “The rejection is perverse, illegal, arbitrary and it has been done on baseless and vague reasons,” he said.
