Treat for film-lovers

THALASSERY: The fifth national film festival being organised by the Kerala Chalachithra Akademi was inaugurated by Culture Minister M.A. Baby here on Moday. The inaugural function was attended by Govind Nihalani and Kundan Shah, filmmakers, and film artiste Seema Biswas.

Sixteen films will be screened at the four-day festival. Six films forming part of the ‘Homage to Renu Saluja’ will be shown.

They include Dharavi by Sudhir Mishra, Ardh Satya by Govind Nihalani, Bandit Queen by Shekhar Kapoor, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron by Kundan Shah, Parinda by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho by Syeed Akhtar Mirza. Pulijanman by Priyanandanan and Marathi film Valu the Wild Bull by Umersh Kulkarni were screened on Monday. Bandit Queen, Thaniye (Malayalam) by Babu Thiruvalla, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, and Ek Nadi Galpo (Bengali) by Samir Chanda will be featured on August 12.
