THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government will explore the possibilities of launching a helicopter service from Nilackal during exigency, Minister for Devaswom G. Sudhakaran said here on Monday. Briefing newspersons about a review of the arrangements to be made at Sabarimala, Mr. Sudhakaran said the government would consider the request from Additional Chief Secretary (Home) K.J. Mathew for permission to use the helipad at Nilackal. Mr. Mathew had said that there was no time for evacuation from Sabarimala in the event of an emergency and hence the facility was imperative. Travancore Devaswom Board president C.K. Guptan had said preparation of aravana and appom would begin a month ahead of the Makaravilakku festival. Sewage plantWork on the new sewage treatment plant and prasadam complex would begin next year. Steps would be taken to improve crowd management. Funds would be granted for completing the main and link roads to Sabarimala. K. Sivadasan Nair and Joseph M. Puthussery (MLAs), board members P.K. Sumathy Kutty Amma and K. Narayanan, and heads of various departments attended the review meeting.
