BANGALORE: A coconut vendor and five of his family members suffered burns after the diesel stocked in his house caught fire in Vasantapura Main Road in Kumaraswamy Layout police station limits on Monday. The police said Subramani (38) had stocked about 10 litres of diesel in his house. On Monday, the diesel accidentally caught fire resulting in burns to Subramani, his wife Laxmi (28), his children Prasanna (13), Kavya (9) and Vaishavi (5), and his relative Radha (14). All the six have been admitted to the burns ward in the Victoria Hospital. Fire and Emergency personnel came to the house and put off the fire. Hoax callHoax bomb calls in educational institutions continued even as the city police launched a campaign against hoax calls. On Monday, M.S. Ramaiah Degree College staff received a call in the morning about a bomb being placed on the premises. AlertThe college staff alerted the jurisdictional Sanjay Nagar police, who came there with the Bomb detection squad and the sniffer dog squad. After searching the premises it was found that the call was a hoax. ArrestSleuths of the Central Crime Branch arrested six persons who were allegedly involved in several cases of dacoity reported in Ramanagara, Kudur and Sulur police station limits. The police have recovered 12.5 tonnes of iron rods, a lorry, a car, a van, Rs. 4,000 and four mobile phones from them. The police said the accused allegedly beat up a lorry driver and a cleaner and had made away with the lorry near Ramanagara on June 25.
