Special Correspondent

Third incident in the area in three weeks

TAMBARAM: Mobile handsets, a laptop and cash were stolen burgled from a cellphone shop in East Tambaram. The burglary came to light when the staff opened the shop on Velachery Main Road on Monday morning.

The Selaiyur police said Kesavan, who was running a True Value Shoppe of Tata Indicom, went to Thiruvannamalai with his family members on Saturday. Two of his employees closed down the shop on Saturday evening. They opened shutters on Monday morning to notice empty boxes of the handsets strewn on the floor.

They found a gaping hole on the wall of the shop and alerted Kesavan. He lodged a complaint at the Selaiyur police station. More than 50 handsets, Rs.27,000 in cash and a laptop were stolen from the shop.
