Haematology Society conference from September 19

PUDUCHERRY: The Departments of Medicine, Pathology and Paediatrics of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education Research (JIPMER) are organising the 49th annual conference of Indian Society of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine from September 19 to 21.

According to a release, the theme of the conference would be “tropical haematology.”

A Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme and three workshops would be held on September 18.

The conference would have a discussion on common tropical diseases such as malaria, kalazar, leptospirosis, snake bite envenomation and their associated haematological manifestations.

Experts from across the country would participate and international speakers from U.K., Malaysia, Australia would talk on topics such as lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome and neutropenia, the release said.

Apart from these, sessions on paediatric haematology, leukemia, multiple myeloma and transfusion medicine would be held. Around 500 delegates are expected to attend the conference.
