Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Women’s Commission has decided to propose introduction of Central Maternity Leave Rules and promotion of women in jobs, to the State government, on lines of those given to reserved category employees. “A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the State Women’s Commission here last night presided over by chairperson of the Commission Krishnakant Tomar,” an official release said. The meeting was attended by members Upma Rai, Dr Kamala Wadia, Sushma Jain and Manoram Gaur besides Additional Secretary, Law and Legislative Affairs, Vinod Bhardwaj and Deputy Secretary, Women and Child Development, M. S. Bhilala. Besides, the Commission also took a number of important decisions with regard to recommendations concerning the affairs of the women in the State. It was also decided that a letter would be sent to the State Government with the recommendation of setting up a ‘Nari Niketan’ each at all the divisional headquarters in the State. It was informed that at present the Nari Niketans were functioning at Ujjan and Gwalior. The meeting was informed that as per the existing rules children above five years of age cannot stay with their mothers in the Nari Niketans. With the establishment of the proposed Nari Niketans at the divisional level, the children can have an easy access to their mothers, it said. PTI
