DAVP advertisement rates likely to be raised

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priyaranjan Dasmunsi on Tuesday indicated an upward revision in the advertisement rates of the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) within a fortnight.

In a statement, the Minister said he was consulting stakeholders to give a “final shape to the measures for providing relief to the newspaper industry”. He said he was aware of the difficulties being faced by the industry as a result of the rise in the prices of newsprint. “It is expected that necessary changes in the DAVP Advertisement Rates Policy norms could be effected within a fortnight”.
