Naidu interacts with people at the concluding phase of his yatra in Anantapur

Party planning to allocate Rs. 2,000 crore for the betterment of artisans

Promises 10 to 15 acres grazing land for sheep-rearers’ cooperative societies

GUNTAKAL (ANANTAPUR DT.): The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will include all the promises being made to the people as part of ‘Mee Kosam Praja Chaitanya Yatra’ in its election manifesto for the next Assembly elections, party president N. Chandrababu Naidu said here on Tuesday. He addressed and met people at several places as part of the third day of his concluding phase of yatra in the district.

He interacted with farmers and women along the route of his 70-km yatra between Guntakal and Uravakonda covering several villages on Tuesday.

Power supply

He sought to know the problems being faced by the farming community and enquired about the power supply to the farm sector. He was told by farmers at different places that it was highly erratic and uncertain.

The TDP president assured to improve the power supply to farm sector if the party was voted to power in the next elections. The party was planning to allocate a budget of Rs. 2,000 crore for the betterment of artisans’ living standards by taking up welfare programmes and supplying tools and creating facilities. He alleged that the Congress government had deceived the sheep-rearing community in the name of sheep insurance as those who suffered huge losses due to the untimely death of sheep due to diseases were not paid compensation so far.

The government had collected the premium amount, but had failed to extend the insurance benefits to the sheep-rearers. About 14 lakh sheep had died after the insurance scheme was introduced by the government, but no compensation was paid.

Loan waiver

The TDP, if voted to power, would offer sheep insurance free of cost, would give 10 to 15 acres of land to each sheep-rearers’ cooperative society as grazing land and would also offer loans at 10 paise interest rate, Mr. Naidu promised. Besides, on the accidental death of a sheep-rearer, his family would be paid a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh. He also reiterated that they (TDP) would waive loans of all farmers and allied activities, if voted to power by keeping it in the election manifesto.

Illegal assets

Accusing the ruling party leaders of amassing assets illegally at the cost of poor Mr. Naidu said people were ready to teach a fitting lesson to such leaders. Earlier, he garlanded the statues of Kanakadasa and Valmiki in Guntakal town.
